Buyer guide
How to Choose a Diesel Generator for Farm, Shop and Construction Use
A buyer needs standby or site power and is offered sets described only by a kW figure. Two sets with the same rating can differ in starting capability, frequency, fuel consumption and weight — and the kW figure alone does not say which one fits the job.
The short answer
- Size on the largest starting load, not on the sum of running watts. A motor that runs at 1 kW can draw several times that for a second or two, and that surge is what stalls an undersized set.
- Fix the frequency and voltage before anything else. 50 Hz and 60 Hz are built differently; a set ordered for the wrong market cannot be corrected on site.
- Treat the kW rating as the ceiling, not the working point. Continuous running should sit below it; the diesel sets in this range are standby and site machines.
- Decide how the set will be moved before choosing the model. The range runs from 165 kg to 240 kg, and that decides trolley, vehicle or fixed installation.
Single-cylinder diesel generating sets — catalogue figures

Outputs are shown as the catalogue states them: 50 Hz / 60 Hz. Packing size is quoted on each model page.
How to choose
List the loads, and mark which ones start motors
Write down every load in watts, then mark the ones with an electric motor — pumps, compressors, conveyors, workshop machines. Those are the loads that decide the size.
Size on the worst starting combination
Take the total running load and add the starting surge of the largest motor. If two large motors can start together, assume they will. Compare that number with the rated output, not the maximum.
Confirm the market standard
The range is built for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, at 110/120/220/230/240 V single phase and 220/380 V three phase. State the destination country and the voltage; it is fixed at build.
Check the daily fuel and the refuelling routine
Tank capacity runs from 3.8 L to 6.5 L across the range. On a long shift that is a refuelling interval, not a day of autonomy — plan storage and safe refuelling before delivery.
Check the weight against the site
A 240 kg set is not moved by two people. Decide whether it is trolley-mounted, lifted by machine, or installed permanently, and confirm access before the container is booked.
Plan the container
Between 66 and 72 units fit a 20 ft container depending on model. If the order is mixed, the loading plan has to be worked out model by model.
Suited to
- Short-run standby power for a shop, workshop or farm premises.
- Site power before a grid connection exists.
- Loads that are known in advance and can be started in sequence.
Not the right choice when
- Prime power: running continuously as the only supply for a factory. That duty needs a water-cooled set sized with headroom.
- Highly sensitive electronics without checking voltage regulation and starting behaviour first.
- Loads where several large motors start simultaneously and the set cannot be staged.
How this is checked before it ships
Pre-shipment testing
Every unit is tested before packing. Generating sets are configured for the frequency and voltage of the destination market, and that configuration is recorded with the order.
What ships with the order
The catalogue row for each model, a data sheet for the specific build, material inspection and pre-shipment test records, and the loading details including units per 20 ft container.
